Four screening endoscopists evaluated the new ENDOCUFF VISION® in a local Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Before the introduction of ENDOCUFF VISION® the cumulative Caecal intubation rate was 96.27% and adenoma detection rate (ADR) 48.71%. On the 30 occasions that ENDOCUFF VISION® has been used similar CIR rates were achieved but cumulative ADR increased to 65.5%. In this small pilot study, use of ENDOCUFF VISION® appeared to increase ADR by a difference of 17%, which is 35% more effective. There were no complications from the use of the cuff although it was electively removed in 3 cases with severe sigmoid colon diverticulosis.
Conclusion Further randomised evaluation of this simple novel device is warranted.
